ASFPM Foundation Hits $40,000 #GivingTuesday Goal Thanks to Your Support!

In December, we reported that the ASFPM Foundation fell just short of its ambitious $40,000 goal for #GivingTuesday. However, a recount of the generous contributions has revealed exciting news: we did, in fact, hit the $40,000 mark! The ASFPM Foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to our individual and corporate donors, ASFPM Chapters, and #GivingTuesday ambassadors for making this year’s #GivingTuesday a huge success! All proceeds will go to the Future Leaders Scholarship Fund, helping to support the next generation of flood risk management professionals.

We would like to recognize CDM Smith, Dewberry, Floodproofing.com, and Guidehouse for their generous sponsorship donations for #GivingTuesday. And for the sixth straight year, an anonymous donor provided a major donation, without which we would have been challenged to meet our goal.

The ASFPM Foundation gives special thanks to all the ASFPM Chapter Directors and ASFPM Chapters who helped the Foundation spread the word and encouraged their membership to participate in the annual #GivingTuesday Chapter Challenge.  To level the playing field, the Foundation determined the winner of the Chapter Challenge not by the collective dollar amount its membership gave; rather it was based on the overall percentage of its membership who gave. A big “shout out” to members of the Connecticut, Iowa, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, and West Virginia Chapters who donated; without you, we would have been even more challenged to reach our goal. We are currently tallying the results and additional chapters that participated along with the overall Challenge winner will be announced at the 2025 ASFPM Annual National Conference in New Orleans!

The donations raised on #GivingTuesday2024 will allow the Foundation to continue to fund the Future Leaders Scholarship. Because of your generosity, more students like Jesus Mulgado, Elizabeth Lacey, Esme Nelson, Kacie Malone, and Eryn Bloom — our past and present FLS scholars — will be able to pursue their dreams of becoming a flood risk management professional. Please visit ASFPM Foundation Giving Tuesday – Future Leader Scholarships to learn more about our current and past FLS recipients.
