#GivingTuesday is a Resounding Success: A Heartfelt “Thank You” to Our Special Donors!

The ASFPM Foundation would like to take this opportunity to thank our individual donors, ASFPM Chapters, and member companies for making this year’s #GivingTuesday a tremendous success. This year, the ASFPM Foundation set a goal of $40,000 with all donations going to the Future Leaders Scholarship. With everyone’s help and hard work, the Foundation raised close to $39,000 in donations — just a little shy of our goal, but successful nonetheless! More details will be provided in the next edition of News & Views, and suffice it to say, the Floodplain Management Community really stepped it up for this year’s ASFPM Foundation Giving Tuesday event.

The Foundation’s 15th Annual Collegiate Student Paper Competition is gearing up!

The 15th Annual ASFPM Foundation Collegiate Student Paper Competition will be held in New Orleans during the 2025 ASFPM Annual Conference, which is slated to take place on May 18-22, 2025. Important goals of the competition are to encourage student engagement in floodplain and flood risk management topics and to identify talented individuals with the potential to make lasting contributions to the floodplain management body of knowledge.

Abstracts for the competition are due on March 24, 2025, and three finalists will be invited to present their papers to an esteemed panel of flood risk management professionals at the conference. We are encouraging you to use your social media networks to get the word out to eligible college students who may be interested in submitting an abstract, either individually or as a team. As added incentive, up to $1,500 is provided for the cost for one presenter from each team to travel to the conference, and 2025 prize money will be $1,600 for 1st Place, $1,200 for 2nd Place, and $700 for 3rd Place.
