FM Approvals Selected for 2022 John R. Sheaffer Award for Excellence in Floodproofing

This award may be presented to an individual, private organization, governmental unit or agency that has completed work involving a particular project, work, research, design or publication that exhibits the incorporation of accepted procedures, practices and constraints of floodproofing, or promotes the field or knowledge of floodproofing by enhancing the awareness and use of new procedures, methods, designs and/or products.

2022 Winner: FM Approvals

ASFPM’s Flood Mitigation Certification Program (FMCP), previously known as the National Flood Barrier Testing and Certification Program, provides a unique flood resiliency service by testing and certifying flood-fight products as well as flood abatement equipment. 

Created by ASFPM in 2012, this program has evolved and grown to serve a critical need across the country in protecting residential, commercial, and industrial buildings through flood-fight barriers that have gone through rigorous water and material testing in accordance with ANSI/FM 2510.

Without the support of Robert Azimi, Charles Mahall and their colleagues at FM Approvals who worked tirelessly to advocate for the importance of this certification program, provide educational outreach, marketing, and support, people would have no method of determining the quality of the temporary flood-fight barriers and flood abatement equipment they are trusting to protect their property.
