ASFPM Launches Spanish Version of Flood Risk Mitigation Site
“¡Por fin está listo!” (It’s finally here!) A Spanish version of ReduceFloodRisk.org is now available.
Flood risk communication in communities with diverse and multilingual populations can be challenging. With the majority of national-scale resources in the United States only available in English, it can be hard for non-English speaking audiences to know what steps to take to reduce their flood risk. To better serve the more than 41 million Spanish-speaking residents, ASFPM has launched a Spanish translation of its website, ReduceFloodRisk.org.
Originally launched in 2022, ReduceFloodRisk.org helps property owners, particularly those in flood-prone areas, understand their flood risk and the most effective flood mitigation strategies for their particular property. Its decision-making engine guides property owners through a series of questions to help them understand their current flood risk and the specific steps they can take to better protect their home or business. The updated Spanish translation brings this interactive flood mitigation resource library to Spanish speakers.
Check it out the Spanish version at ReduceFloodRisk.org/ES and the English version at ReduceFloodRisk.org. (It’s easy to toggle between the two depending on your audience.)
