2024 ASFPM Impact Report: A Year of Progress and Purpose
As we reflect on the past year, we are proud of all that ASFPM achieved in 2024 — accomplishments made possible through the continued support of our members and partners.
Here are a few highlights you find in the 2024 ASFPM Impact Report:
- The Certified Floodplain Manager program continues to grow with more than 11,200 CFMs nationwide, and those who participated in our CFM Exam Prep webinar saw a 25% higher pass rate than those who decided to go it alone.
- Our training program expanded with 10 on-demand, CEC-eligible courses and well-attended webinars, with more custom training solutions and continuing education opportunities coming in 2025.
- The 2024 ASFPM Annual Conference, offered in a hybrid format for the third consecutive year, had a record-breaking in-person attendance of 1,705 joining us in Salt Lake City and another 253 who participated virtually.
- The Flood Science Center managed 43 active projects and released impactful tools and research — from legal guides and coastal resilience projects to community-focused resources like Reduce Flood Risk.
- Our policy and advocacy work worked to help shape national flood policy, possible NFIP reforms, and the passage of WRDA 2024, while also amplifying member priorities through congressional testimony, comment letters, and direct engagement with federal agencies.
- ASFPM communications and outreach delivered timely, relevant content across multiple channels — from 230+ LinkedIn posts and 18 newsletter issues to targeted email updates and new post-flood recovery tools on floods.org — helping members stay informed and connected throughout the year.
Thank you to everyone who helped make this work possible — and for the important work each of you do every day to reduce flood risk in your communities. In a year marked by the devastating impacts of Hurricane Helene and a growing number of major flood events nationwide, it’s clear that the need for sound floodplain management has never been more urgent. ASFPM remains committed to supporting you with the tools, training, and policies needed to face these challenges head on, and to reduce the human and economic toll of flooding.
