One Conference. Fifty Years of ASFPM Stories
The 2026 ASFPM Annual Conference may be over, but we’re still reflecting on an unforgettable week in Milwaukee. The milestone event brought together more than 1,500 attendees who joined us in Brew City or participated online.
We’ll have a full conference recap and profiles of all the ASFPM Award winners in the next newsletter, but for now we’d like to share two new resources created to commemorate ASFPM’s 50th anniversary.
ASFPM Retrospective: 50 Years of Impact (1976-2026) – Take a look back at 50 years of ASFPM Conferences through the faces, places, and moments that helped shape the association and the floodplain management profession. From humble beginnings to a nationwide community, this 20-minute photo slideshow celebrates 50 Years of Impact.
Association Milestones – From the first meeting that started it all to the present day, this timeline of association activities and accomplishments features well over 100 milestones that helped share the ASFPM story. Go here to view the timeline as well as the ASFPM Wall of Honor, which recognizes people who have made significant, substantial, and enduring contributions to flood risk management and the floodplain management profession as a whole.
As we celebrate ASFPM’s 50th anniversary all year long, these resources offer a chance to reflect on how far the association and the profession have come—and the people who made that progress possible. Stay tuned for more highlights from Milwaukee in the next issue.
