ASFPM Submits Comments to FEMA Review Council

ASFPM submitted comments to the Department of Homeland Security this week in advance of the FEMA Review Council meeting held Wed., July 9. In the comments, ASFPM emphasized the vital role FEMA plays in disaster preparedness, response, and risk reduction, and the importance of the collaborative effort needed across federal, state, and local entities to create safer, more resilient communities. 

We strongly oppose any proposal to eliminate, divide, or weaken FEMA or its critical functions and programs—including the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP).

The FEMA Review Council is expected to release a report in November with its recommendations to improve federal disaster response.
