DETAILS Become a vital problem-solver in your organization or community. Build a
solid foundation in the basics of conflict resolution, with specific
focus on the practice of mediation, facilitation and the range of
processes related to the prevention and resolution of conflict within
communities. Gain an understanding of the history and interdisciplinary
roots of the field, as well as the critical issues of which today’s
mediators must be aware.
Format: You
must begin and end the course on the dates noted above. You will
participate in group activities and projects with specific due dates.
Assignments will be posted each week. You must provide your email
address when enrolling to receive your password, and set up your email
account to receive email from "extensiondlc.net"; otherwise, the email
containing your password may not reach your inbox. If you do not receive
your password on the start date, please visit the Online Learning

Technical Requirements: A stable Internet connection and a current email account. Most online
courses also require the ability to view PDF documents and Flash-based
presentations, and speakers or headphones to hear audio presentation. If
you plan to access an online course using an iPad, iPod or an iPhone
there are a variety of Flash web browsers available in the App Store
that can enable your iPad/iPod/iPhone to view Flash content. More info.
Instructor(s): Mary Madison Campbell, J.D.,
is
an analyst with the UC Davis Information Center for the Environment. She has
written extensively on habitat protection, tire recycling markets, Native
American law and transferred development rights, as well as on the environmental
issues surrounding Chesapeake Bay. She has also coordinated data collection for
nearly 20 state and federal resource agencies into the Natural Resource
Projects Inventory (http://www.ice.ucdavis.edu/nrpi),
mediated disputes for the U.S. Department of Agriculture through the California
Certified Agricultural Mediation Program and facilitated a watershed group in
Monterey, Calif., to address the impacts of California’s Highway 1.
