National Disaster Recovery Framework

FEMA Administrator Craig Fugate announced the establishment of a National Disaster Recovery Framework Working Group on August 27, 2009. FEMA states the goal is to engage recovery stakeholders to create a comprehensive coordinating structure that will enhance our ability to work together and effectively deliver recovery assistance. 

The Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) commends the National Disaster Recovery Framework Working Group for putting together a good and comprehensive Draft National Recovery Framework. In particular, the ASFPM is pleased to see the role of mitigation mentioned. However, we urge that the connections between recovery and local and State mitigation planning, long term resilience and sustainability be strengthened in the NDRF.
