The Reno-Tahoe area at the foot of the Sierra Nevada is the home of beautiful Lake Tahoe and Pyramid Lake, and the Truckee River that connects the two. In fact, the Truckee River is the basis of this year's conference theme. The community intends a revitalization of the Truckee River through through establishment of a river parkway in town and river restoration downstream. For floodplain managers, this means balancing the needs of a growing community with restoring the natural and beneficial functions of the river's floodplain.
